Hussey makes Australian tails to wag:

As a general tendency of human being, if any one demoted to a disadvantage position either he under or does not perform to express his discontentment. In case of Hussey, it is other way around.

Hussey was inducted to test match in absence of  Justin Langer and was opening the inning. On return of Justin Langer, Hussey was moved down the order to number 5. Even at this down the order, Hussey has proved invaluable to the Australian team with his marvelous performance.  At that position he helped the tail ender to build enormous partnerships. In the 2007 Commonwealth Bank Triangular Series, Australia was in a losing position against England, and New Zealand. In both the matches Hussey had chased opponents score and he guided the Australians to victory when all recognized batsman were back in the pavilion.

Hussey gave respectability to Australian score of 159 against India in the 4th ODI  of the Commenwealth Bank Series played at the MCG on February 10, 2008. Australia’s Top and Middle Order batsman could not with stand the Indian bowling. Five wickets were down for mere 72 runs. Chennai Super Kings.

Michael Hussey has chosen to play for his IPL team Chennai Super Kings instead of his Australian state side Western Warriors for Champions Twenty20 League. He is the second batsman to score a Twenty20 century in the league. Earlier to him New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum had scored ton.

Michael Hussey was chosen by Chennai Super Kings a franchise team of IPL at the cost of US$625,000.

Hussey was a big flop as a captain:

Hussey was nominated as a captain on 18th September 2006. He was to lead Australian team for the first time in the DLF Cup second round match against West Indies at Kuala Lumpur. In spite of Hussey and Brad Haddin’s sixth-wicket partnership of 165 which is a world record for sixth-wicket in all ODIs, Australia lost by three wickets.

Again  as a rotation policy of Australia,  selectors have rested their regular captain Ricky Ponting and Vice-captain Adam Gilchrist and appointed Hussey as a captain for Chappell-Hadlee Trophy. The first match under Chappell-Hadlee Trophy was against New Zealand. Australia lost the match by ten wickets. It was for the first time Australia had lost a match by the margin of ten wickets in the One-Day International history.

After losing to New Zealand, Hussey had further embrassment as a captain. Under Hussey’s captaincy Australia lost the top place in the ODI Rankings to South Africa for the first time from the date of its introduced in 2002. Again Hussey lost the final match against New Zealand.

That was the last. Straw, Hussey lost his captaincy after continuously losing four matches. However in all these matches, Hussey batting performance was excellent.
