The Chennai Super Kings put up a superb performance both with the bat and the ball to make mince meat of the Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR won the toss and elected to bat hoping to take advantage of the pitch that seemed to offering a lot of turn. It turned into a night mare as Ashwin Ravichandran’s clever bowling at 3 Knight Riders back in the pavilion is the short span of 4 overs.  A slow recovery was scripted by Angelo Mathews to take the visitors to a decent total of 139.

Needing 140 to win the Chennai team reached the target with overs to spare and players too. Only the out of form Hayden got out the two others Raina and Vijay simply ripped the Knight Riders bowling apart and raced to stunning victory that took them to the second spot on the points table.

KKR owner SRK tweeted his anguish at the team’s early exit from the competition, gave no excuses for the bad performance nor any promise of a better performance next year.  He apologised to millions of Kolkata fans, sponsors and supporters and refused to blame the team members. SRK already depressed with the hospitalisation of close buddy needed some alone time with family and kids to get over the sadness.

No worries, SRK this is just a game. You win some, you lose some. Keep fighting.

A do or die battle for the both the teams. A loss means definite outser from the tournament. With only Mumbai assured of a semifinal berth, the competition is still wide open. Any of the 8 teams can qualify for the semis. Kolkata and Chennai on same points need a win desperately to stay in contention. Who will win?

SRK meanwhile will not be bttending the match in Chennai. He is at the bedside of Bobby Chawla and close friend and business associate. Juhi Chawla’s brother Bobby suddenly collapsed in a hotel and is in hospital.

Kolkata Knight Riders in a must win situation to ensure a semi-final berth could not get past the strong batting from Mahela Jayawardene.  Kings XI batsmen applied themselves today to win and get back some pride for their team which was languishing at the bottom of the table with just one win from 8 outings. Today’s win will be a soothing balm for a team that has performed extremely well in the last two editions but has found itself at the bottom of the table this season.

Kolkata Knight Riders batted really well to set a target of 201 for the Punjab team but the methodical batting and hitting helped the visitors to remain on top throughout the contest.

This loss makes it extremely difficult for the Knight Riders to qualify for the semis as two other teams are also competing at the same level – the Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals.

Kolkata Knights Vs Deccan Chargers today. Who will win? Who is going to Semis?

The Royals finally broking their losing streak today beating the Kolkata Knight Riders by 34 runs. Bowling second the Rajasthan bowlers choked the Knight Riders and did not allow any room to score runs. Tight fielding, tighter bowling and good target contributed to a handsome victory for the Royals.

In spite of losing wickets regulary the Rajasthan team managed a decent score of 178 runs.  As they took to the field they straight away piled on the pressure on the Kolkata team. The Knight Riders had plenty of wickets but not one batsman was able to cut loose and and as result the asking rate kept climbing.

The Royals must sighing in relief as they had been down in the dumps from three straight losses.

Better luck to SRK’s team next time. The Knight Riders need more ideas and better execution. Ishant Sharma bowling the last over gave away nearly 17 runs.  The only two sixes of the Rajasthan innings came in this over.
