5 Things I DON'T Do On Twitter

RE-TWEET IT!

I DON’T Auto-follow

‘Auto’ NOT based on ‘technology’ but as in ‘automatic’ – that is, reflexive, unthinking, reciprocal.

Over 2,500 people follow my account. But I only follow around 40 myself. That’s by choice. It enhances my Twitter experience.

I DON’T Auto-DM

‘Auto’, this time, YES – based on technology. As in ‘automated welcome DMs’ sent to all new Twitter followers.

I don’t do them. And if you do, here’s what I’d say to you!

I DON’T Retweet without checking

I never do this, ever since once an RT ended up pointing to a site I wouldn’t like to be associated with!

So I always click to explore a link BEFORE retweeting it to my followers.

I DON’T Spend more time than allotted

It’s easy to get immersed in social networking and lose track of time.

Those days are long gone, for me. I set strict limits on how long I engage on Twitter – and stick with them.

I DON’T Bombard anyone with DMs

I believe it’s rude – unless they want to hear from you.

And if you need to send multiple DMs, why not just use email instead?

What 5 things do YOU not do on Twitter that you feel others may benefit from hearing about? Please share them in a comment.
