Get Your Hands Dirty

RE-TWEET IT!

I’m a heart surgeon.

I could get a consultant’s position at one (or many) hospitals, see patients who come to my out-patient clinic, and operate on the ones who need treatment.

Instead, I chose a different route. To reach out to a section of patients who do not come to a hospital – because they can’t afford treatment.

I could sit in my consultation room or limit my activities to the operating room, focus all attention on the technical side of my professional work.

Instead, I spent all day on Friday visiting various dealerships and distributors who sell consumables (like sutures, catheters and other things used in surgery).

Why do I choose to get my hands dirty?

Well, I did spend 6 hours driving around the congested roads, fighting rush hour traffic, and chatting with sundry businessmen.

But as a result, I secured concessional rates for supplies that will slash the cost of each heart operation funded by the Dr.Mani Children Heart Foundation by a further $150.00

That’s almost 6% off an already tight budget – which means for every 15 operations we perform, we’ll save enough to fund ONE EXTRA surgery!

It means one more child will have a chance to live!

It means we make a bigger impact.

It is the reason why I get my hands dirty.

Wouldn’t you do the same too?

It’s your choice. Make it today.
