In case you didn’t know it already, I’m a heart surgeon using my infopreneur business and fundraising efforts to help sponsor life-saving surgery for children from under-privileged families born with congenital heart defects.
Surgery is expensive. Many families cannot afford it. My goal is to help them.
Some years ago, in an effort to systematize my efforts, I started a non-profit organization called the Dr.Mani Children Heart Foundation. Until today, 38 heart operations have been sponsored through the foundation.
Today is special. It’s a RED LETTER DAY in our fledgling efforts.
After a painstaking, agonizingly slow, and hurdle-laden course that lasted over 16 months, a long-delayed project finally was put into action.
Our State Government is now subsidizing the cost of heart operations that are funded through our Foundation – to the tune of almost FIFTY PERCENT of the cost!
This means where one operation used to cost (on average) $2,500 we can now perform it at $1,250. Or, in other words, for the same donation we can help TWICE as many children as before!
Normally, I would reserve updates about the Dr.Mani Children Heart Foundation and our fundraising efforts to the Congenital Heart Defects blog – but this is extremely special news, and so I wanted to share it with readers of this blog too.

Congrats Dr on the milestone achievement. Your hard work has certainly paid off.
Its no mean achievement prodding the govt to action.
Dr. Mani -
BIG CONGRATULATIONS! This is a testament to the perseverance of you and others that worked diligently to make this happen.
This is affecting real people’s lives, in very real ways.
Little Swetha’s parents are surely overjoyed at her successful surgery today.
And thanks to this news, there can be twice as many Swetha’s… who’s potential and contributions to the world are not cut short.
Congratulations.
What exciting news, Dr. Mani! Thank you for your endless work to help children with congenital heart defects! This is such an important work.
Dear Doc
Thank you for -”and so I wanted to share it with readers of this blog too.
Is there any way I could get involved – at least once a year for a service with two prongs.
a) Your hands on a child who needs your honed skills
In exchange for
b) A surmountable cash equity as a donation to your CHD fund.
