Women Who Inspire Me

RE-TWEET IT!

Women who inspire me

Other than the two women who inspire me most – my wife, and my daughter – there are some more whom you too may want to meet and know who are special in my life.

Meet Gail Lynn Goodwin

A year ago, on Twitter, Gail asked if anyone could connect her to Sir.Richard Branson, as she wanted to interview him for her site, Inspire Me Today. Last week, she returned from a visit to Sir Richard’s private Necker Island – and shared a fantastic interview with photos of her trip!

Every day, in different ways, she convinces me about the enormous power of “inspired intention” – the kind of focus and energy backed by passion that knocks down all barriers and ridicules the word “impossible”.

She’s taking off shortly on a tiny plane to fly around the world, spreading hugs. Her “Global Hug Tour” will spread love – and save lives.

When I grow up, I want to be like Gail! :-)

Meet Anne P Mitchell

I found Anne on Twitter, learned about her incredible networking skills and expertise in a tech area, then saw her innate ability to inspire and gather around her other people who can. Lurking on a private email discussion list, “Success Makers Group“, I have observed how many other celebrities and stars in various fields are in Anne’s network.

More important to me, it was through Anne that I heard about Greg Mortenson, the K2 mountaineer who is scaling higher, more difficult peaks by spreading education for school kids (including girls) in the rocky terrain of Afghanistan and remote corners of Pakistan.

Anne also knows my personal hero, Dr.Paul Farmer, a Harvard MD who works in Haiti among the world’s poorest people – and has promised to do her best to arrange a meeting.

Even if she doesn’t succeed, she’s still my inspiration!

Meet Jeannette Fisher

She’s @JeanetteJoy on Twitter, an interior decorator and real estate specialist, who went as my representative to an event by Frank McKinney’s “Caring House Project” – and ended up convincing two more of her friends to donate to build houses for the homeless in Haiti!

Despite a following on Twitter of over 60,000 she finds time to chat or join a mini-conversation, and most of her tweets are inspiring, friendly and personal. She has been an inveterate supporter of my work with heart kids, often letting her network know and asking them to help.

Her smiling friendly face never fails to raise an echoing smile in my heart.

Meet Beth Kanter

Another “Twitter pal”, Beth is the quintessential online fund raiser and non-profit activist, an energetic blogger and generous giver who is always ready with a helping hand to assist, guide and educate do-gooders around the world from her rich experience.

Beth’s blog has a wealth of advise, experience and case studies of online fund raising campaigns – stuff anyone serious about working with non-profits will find a treasure trove.

We don’t converse much these days, but I follow what Beth does often through her blog.

She ‘leads by example’… and thus, inspires many (including me)

Meet Lynn Terry

I’ve known Lynn for many years, watched her grow from ‘beginner’ to ‘expert’ to ‘role model’ in the cut-throat arena of online marketing. An affiliate marketing specialist and coach, Lynn is on a very short list of people I trust to always do the “right thing”.

It is no wonder that she’s a magnet for many students who follow her blog, chat on her forum, and even join her private mentoring group. In 2010, I will be more active on her forum, and have urged my own students to join it.

From time to time, I do have doubts about whether or not I can make something work. Whenever this happens, thinking about how Lynn Terry has done more keeps me inspired – and plugging away at it!

Meet Carrie Wilkerson

The ‘Barefoot Executive’ not only inspires me – she EXHAUSTS me with her sheer energy! How Carrie ever manages to juggle conversations with 50,000+ followers on Twitter, run 6 businesses and still have time and energy to spare for her lovely family will always leave me shaking my head in wonder and amazement.

And by her adrenaline-powered activities, Carrie shames me into keeping going well beyond the time I would have otherwise stopped working… and that has helped me do at least 10% more.

Did I say she was generous too? A loyal, vocal supporter of my CHD work, Carrie has helped sponsor more than one child’s operation through her efforts.

When I think I’m too tired to go on, I think about Carrie!

Meet Mary Donachy Goff

Mary is one of the loveliest, loving and genuinely inspiring souls I’ve had the pleasure of meeting online over many years. An entrepreneur at heart, Mary has made her caring for a grandchild with autism the center of her infopreneuring efforts – and I’m proud of being a part of it all.

We have grown to become true friends. She sends me nice long emails about her family, her dreams, her achievements, and more. All of these are inspiring.

You may wonder why. It’s because Mary is 76 years old. And in spirit, she’s a chirpy 30, if not younger!

When I’m 80+, I want to be like Mary.

There are a few more women who inspire me. They will be in a future blog post. But I want to hear from you. Who are your favorites? Why?

Nicely written. I’ll admit that I’m a big fan of Lynn Terry. Just seems to be “real people”; I like that.

You have chosen some fine people in “Women Who Inspire Me.” Knowing one of these women personally, Jeanette Fisher, and a few more on Twitter, I can attest to the quality of the group. Thanks for taking me beyond those I know to new people I should find ways to me.

Warmest Regards,
Edward Philipp

My Dear Dr. Mani,

What a true mentor and friend you have been. I credit much of the success of my new book, The House of Joshua: The Beginning, to your never ending leadership. You told me to seach my soul and find what I enjoy most and I did! I love to write stories. So, there it is. You just got your copy today!

Love you, my dear friend,
Mary
