I'd jump right in to discussions on email lists and forums, make the silliest mistakes and gaffes - but not mind because I was LEARNING. Here's my thoughts. Blogs are a conversation and sharing comments is joining in the conversation. Your own blog may not be shown in the post but your name is and if you are consistent with your name and join in several different conversations and you make people laugh or think or empathise with you, people will notice and may remember.
