Your Blogging PROCESS – Part 2

by Dr.Mani on August 25, 2007

This Blogging STRATEGY post is a part of “2 Weeks To Launch Your Blog“.

The blogging process is the actual sequence of steps you will take to populate your blog with content, and then execute the various other tasks like marketing and profiting from the content.

Here are some of the one-off tasks you’ll have to perform from time to time.

ONE-OFF TASKS

Install plug-ins and widgets

From time to time, you may come across a plug-in that might enhance your blog’s impact. Or a new script or tool or service may launch, and you may want to integrate it into your blog.

Tweak templates

By optimizing your templates for keywords, renaming the categories, and inserting links to your related websites, you can enjoy the trickle-down effect of your blog’s popularity in the future, for no extra work.

Sign up for an affiliate program

When you find a new product or service you’d like to promote on your blog, you’ll register as an affiliate, collect links or ad banners, upload them to your blog and record the information about the program in your database.

Registering for social bookmarks

By using a service like OnlyWire.com, installing the bookmarklet tool and registering for all social bookmarking services, you’ll be able to quickly get ‘Google juice’ for all your blog posts with a few mouse-clicks.

Establish joint ventures

You could contact an influential blogger and arrange to exchange links to each others’ blog by getting on their blogroll. A one-time effort like this can drive a flood of traffic to your blog for YEARS.

Create linking pages

Once your blog has some meaningful content, you can drive new visitors to your archived posts by creating pages with internal links to your older blog posts, sorted by topic or theme.
