Techniques To Deliver An Absorbing Speech - Part 3

The previous posts discuss techniques to deliver an absorbing speech. Lets now look into few more tips on how to improve our speech capabilities.

Please ensure you read Part 1 and Part 2 of this 3 part series.

Prepare, Execute, Perform
Even the best speakers with most persuasive speeches have failed to make an impact on stage because they didn’t acknowledge the value of practice and ignored it. Speeches make good impact only when the orator takes time to write, prepare and practice. Also plan and rehearse the gestures, posture, stance and style of speaking.
Remember that nothing can replace proper preparation and it is always the best way to success.
Make time to prepare, rehearse in as much a real time setting as possible. Try to imagine an audience, if you can’t call everyone over for a cup of coffee and ask them to listen. But work hard you must.
Be Punctual
One of the best things to do is to reach the venue well before scheduled time. There are several advantages of coming early. You can check out the auditorium/ venue of your talk and test its lighting and sound systems, chairs and tables and other objects you might want to use to make your presentation more effective.
Another major necessity to be well before starting time is to network with your audience and know their pulse and expectations. A vital step to build that much needed rapport with the people who have come to listen to you..

Observe a moment’s silence

Enter the dais and move towards the edge. Take a minute off and observe silence. Observe the listeners, inhale deeply and then start your talk. If you have taken care to follow all the steps, your speech will be a successful orator.
